Area of Parallelograms and Triangles – Exercise 9.1 – Class IX

  1. Which of the following figures lie on the same base and between the same parallels? In such a case, write the common base and the two parallels.

1

Solution:

(i) Area of Parallelograms and Triangles – Exercise 9.1 – Class IXyes. It is observed that trapezium ABCD and triangle PCD have a common base and  AB and CD are the parallels are AB and CD

(ii)Area of Parallelograms and Triangles – Exercise 9.1 – Class IXNo. It is observed that parallelogram PQRS and trapezium MNRS have common base RS . But they do not lie on the same line.

(iii) Area of Parallelograms and Triangles – Exercise 9.1 – Class IXyes. It is observed that parallelogram PQRS and triangle TQR have a common base QR and the parallels are PS and QR

(iv)Area of Parallelograms and Triangles – Exercise 9.1 – Class IXNo. It is observed that parallelogram ABCD and triangle PQR are lying between the same parallel lines AD abd BC . But these do not have common base.

(v) Area of Parallelograms and Triangles – Exercise 9.1 – Class IXyes. It can be observed that parallelogram ABCD and parallelogram APQD have a common base AD and these are lying between the same parallel lines AD and BQ.

(vi)Area of Parallelograms and Triangles – Exercise 9.1 – Class IX No. It can be observed that parallelogram PBCS and PQRS are lying on the sa,e base PS. But these do not lie between the same parallels.
